Foundation

Hind Al-Husseini’s Society, “Dar Al-Tifel Al-Arabi (DTA)” was founded in Jerusalem in 1948, by the late Ms. Hind Al-Husseini, a pioneer of voluntary work in Jerusalem, following the Massacre of Deir Yassine. She first managed to shelter 55 children who survived the Massacre, she was then able to develop the shelter and make it grow into the Society it is today. Thanks to God and to the support of many generous people in Palestine and around the Arab and Islamic world, and with the support of Ms. Hind’s colleagues who followed in her path, the Society has become today a prestigious institution that offers unique and high-quality humanitarian, pedagogic, educational and cultural services in a healthy and safe environment, holistically. The Society provides the following:

  1. A boarding section for orphans and needy girls:

This section accommodates female orphans and needy girls. It provides them with a decent life, accommodation, food, clothes, education, entertainment, psychological and health care. The boarding section can accommodate up to 300 girls. However, access restrictions between Jerusalem and other Palestinian cities, became an obstacle for orphans and their families, leading to a decline in the current number of orphans registered with the Society.

  1. Dar Al-Tifel Al-Arabi Nursery and Kindergarten

The Nursery and the Kindergarten (KG) welcome children from the age of three months to five years. It provides care and love to those children, in addition to teaching the basics of knowledge through exciting methods that allow the children to accept the outer world and be part of it. It is widely known that a large number of parents from Jerusalem seek to enroll their children in the nursery because of its good reputation and the exceptional care and education it provides.

The Nursery and KG currently accommodate 202 children, including the orphans.
